Forever concerned for the well being of the nation and the people, Royal Nepal Army gladly responded to Nepal’s quest for development in opening up remote areas through rugged mountainous terrain with a large number of road and bridging projects, the selfless dedication of Royal Nepal Army Personnel and its institutional drive and integrity have made it possible National planners to aim for more road projects in minimum costs. Disaster is a major incident which causes a serious disruption of life, arising with little or no warning, causing or threatening death or serious injury or rendering populations homeless. In such crises public services operation under normal procedures, demands special mobilization and prompt action, to respond effectively and quickly to such incident, professionalism and organized effort of the Armed forces are very practical consequently the Royal Nepal Army plays a major role in providing emergency assistance to the needy people all over the country. Royal Nepal Army has responded with prompt action during floods, earthquakes avalanches, fires, landslides, air and other transportation disaster with its expert and professional man power depending upon the situation and the magnitude of the disaster. Royal Nepal Army plays a vital role in disaster relief operation like search and evacuation including air rescue and also eagerly provides donations for support of victims by mobilizing all its resources some of the incidents where the Royal Nepal Army has saved many lives are devastating earthquake of 1933 AD, the damaging earthquake in East Nepal in 1988 AD, rescue of passenger from plane crash of PIA and Thai Airways jets and recently rescue of flood victims at Banke and Bardia in Aug, 2006.Royal Nepal Army has been actively participating in various peace-keeping, observer and other miscellaneous UN missions in international field since 1958. This representation in the international arena is definitely projecting a positive image of Nepal.
